A bus carrying teenagers from a Gloucestershire school has crashed in France with 15 people injured, according to reports.

The bus crashed onto its side on a motorway in eastern France near Lons-le-Saunier, near Switzerland, and was bound for Italy. No other vehicles were involved.

A total of 50 people were on board and most of them were aged between 14 and 17. They included two drivers and six teachers.

Two badly injured pupils were helicoptered to hospital. Another 10 pupils, a teacher and the two drivers were treated for minor injuries at the roadside.

The pupils were from the Bournside School in Cheltenham.

Two are seriously injured and have been flown to hospital by helicopter, the BBC reported.

Other media reported that three were seriously injured.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are providing support to a group of British nationals following a coach crash in France.

“We are in contact with the relevant local authorities.”
