A man found guilty of killing a toddler in China in a row over a parking space has been sentenced to death.

Han Lei said the killing of the two-year-old girl was an accident, because he had been drunk and thought the pram was a shopping trolley, the BBC reported.

The 39-year-old pulled the toddler from the pram and threw her on the floor after her mother refused to make room for his car.

Han and another man had asked the mother to move it away so that they could park near a bus station in Beijing's Daxing district in July.

The girl was severely injured and died later in hospital, the Guardian said.

Han fled the scene but was later captured by police.

The other man involved in the argument was jailed for five years.
