Denise Welch has apparently refused to appear on the Loose Women panel with Janet Street Porter.

The former Coronation Street actress has begged producers to keep them apart, claiming she doesn't feel comfortable around the 63-year-old journalist.

Show insiders say there is a major personality clash between the pair, with one source telling The Mirror: "To say relations between Denise and Janet are frosty would be an understatement. The reality is they really don't like each other and they probably never will.

"Janet considers herself to be a feminist intellectual while Denise is a salt-of-the-earth northern lass who really enjoys letting her hair down. They have got absolutely nothing in common and would rather have nothing to do with each other."

A Loose Women spokeswoman said: "The mix of panellists each day is decided by the production team and not the talent."

Denise, who is dating toyboy Lincoln Townley after splitting from her husband Tim Healy, revealed this week that her husband has also found a new partner.
