The hole first appeared on Sunday

According to locals, the land began collapsing on Sunday with the aperture now measuring a remarkable 160ft across and plummeting to a depth of 130ft. The collapse was reportedly caused when part of the old Mill Dam Lead Mine caved-in below after heavy rain.

Engineers plan to visit the site on Monday to re-route several electricity cables that were left precariously dangling over the precipice.
