A man from Birmingham has been charged with murder after the deaths of three people on August 10 during widespread rioting and looting in the city.

The three men, Shazad Ali, Abdul Musavir and Haroon Jahan, died after being hit by a car on Dudley Road.

West Midlands Police said in a statement:

A 30-year-old man from Birmingham has been charged with murder this evening (Tuesday 17 August).

The man has been charged in connection with the deaths of Shazad Ali, Abdul Musavir and Haroon Jahan, who all died after being hit by a car on Dudley Road, Winson Green in the early hours of Wednesday 10 August.

He will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court in the morning (Wednesday 18 August).

Three men, aged 17, 23 and 26, have already been charged with murder and have appeared before Birmingham Crown Court.

A further three people, all males and aged 16-years-old, 27-years-old and a 32-years-old, have been bailed pending further enquires.
