The 'big news' was at risk of being overshadowed by Sir Alex Ferguson's recent retirement, but Beck-mania ensued in the national press, with tearful looks back on the footballer's career.
Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce emerged from prison with beaming smiles, with Huhne revealed he had had a 'humbling and sobering experience' during his time behind bars.

A chicken with an extra length of body and two extra legs is seen in Shangluo, northwest Chinas Shaanxi Province. The unusual chicken was born 20 days ago and, against expectations, has survived. Farm owner Sun Junchao says she has been keeping an eye on the strange bird. The chicken has now become something of an attraction in the local area. One villager said: Ive never seen a four-legged chick in my whole life, so I come to visit this unusual creature from time to time.
