Steve McLaren Reacts To Iceland's Second Goal Against England

Steve McLaren Had An Absolute Comedy Howler When Iceland Scored

Last night, after one of the most tumultuous weeks in UK political history, the England football team had a chance to provide part of the country with a tiny sliver of joy.

Instead they served up a massive, humiliating, steaming pile of utter misery after they were beaten by outsiders Iceland 2-1.

Before the result was set in stone, Steve McLaren was still pretty confident of English success.

At 1-1 he said: "It's been the perfect response - start again, keep dominating, keep getting pressure on the Iceland team.

"All they have is the big boy up front, Sigurðsson, who really...."

Then this happened....

That face.

Iceland capitalised on England’s defensive shortcomings, equalizing in the sixth when Kari Arnason flicked on a long throw and Ragnar Sigurdsson volleyed in at the back post.

Kolbeinn Sigthorsson was then given time and space to shoot from just inside the area in the 18th. England goalkeeper Joe Hart got a hand to the shot but couldn’t keep it out.
