Skivers! Fancy a day off work? It's probably best to stick to the old common-or-garden "tummy upset" excuse, rather than coming up with a more inventive story, if this woman's experience is anything to go by...

Sheila Bailey Eubank, 48, from Texas, is accused of faking her own abduction because she wanted more attention and a day away from the workplace, according to WWLTV.com.

Eubank's arrest warrant states she was found bound by rope in the back seat of her car. She told police she'd been kidnapped at knifepoint by an unidentified man and made to drive around San Antonio while he carried out drug deals.

However, on further investigation, it turned out Eubank had actually been buying a lottery ticket from a petrol station at the exact time she claims to have been kidnapped. CCTV footage showed her looking "healthy, unhurried and pleasant" as she withdrew cash from an ATM and then made her purchase.

She has now been charged with aggravated perjury. Oh, and it's not known whether she won the lottery - but we're guessing not.
