Winston Churchill Quotes: 10 Things The Man Dubbed 'Britain's Greatest Prime Minister' Definitely Did Not Say

10 Things Winston Churchill Definitely Did Not Say
|

It could have been predicted that when David Cameron asked the nation to tweet their favourite Winston Churchill quotes, to mark the 50th anniversary of the former prime minister's death, people wouldn't respond entirely sensibly.

While many people tweeted inspirational quotes from the man who led Britain to victory over Nazi Germany in the 1940s, some tweets using the #ChurchillQuotes hashtag that Cameron suggested were inevitably a bit silly.

A quote from Michael Caine in The Italian Job, Cartman from South Park - and of course, the dog puppet used in the Churchill insurance brand adverts - made an appeared on the hashtag thread.

It reminds us that no matter how hard a prime minister tries, some people will always try to get the last laugh.
