Woman Dies After Being Pulled From Sea Off Cornwall

A holidaymaker has died after being recovered from the sea off the coast of Cornwall.

The 36-year-old woman was on a break with her family and friends in Polzeath, police said.

Her body was discovered after a search operation was launched on Sunday morning when she was reported missing.

She was taken to Treliske Hospital in Truro but confirmed dead on arrival.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they are investigating the circumstances of her death and her family have been informed.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said:

“Padstow and Polzeath Coastguard rescue teams and Rock and Padstow RNLI lifeboats conducted and extensive search of the area, alongside Devon and Cornwall Police.

“A female casualty has been pulled from the water and taken to Treliske Hospital by the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Newquay.”
