The number of people who have died in hospitals across the UK after contracting coronavirus has risen by 360 in 24 hours.

The increase consists of 329 in England, 13 in Scotland, 10 in Northern Ireland and eight in Wales.

UK-wide figures from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have yet to be released, so the total is taken from each nation’s individual reporting.

It brings the working total to 21,092.

The majority of the 329 deaths in England actually took place on Saturday: just over 160, compared with fewer than 60 on Sunday. There is typically a lag in reporting deaths from the weekend, and more deaths from Sunday are expected to be disclosed in the coming days.

England’s victims were aged 29 to 100, with 22 having no known underlying health conditions.
