Plastic Bag Charges 'Chaos' Has Actually Happened, With Thefts, Price Wars And Pranks

5 Times Actual Plastic Bag Insanity Came To Pass
|

Attempts to treat the planet with slightly less ecological contempt than usual by introducing a charge on plastic bags has brought Britain to its knees.

Flocks of desperate punters - now forced to fork out the princely sum of 5 pence for a receptacle that takes centuries to decompose - were left anguished by the announcement.

"Worst crack av ever seen in me whole entire life," despaired one Twitter user.

Incredible scenes have unfolded across England since the madness began.

Here are five times plastic bag insanity came to pass.

Fucking plastic bags again

Exasperated supermarket workers have actually been forced to attach security tags to their shopping baskets, after thefts sky-rocketed following the introduction of the carrier bag charge.

A third of all baskets at a branch of Tesco were pinched in just seven days after Britain befell the worst punter pricing since the Poll Tax.

Seriously.

An actual human being advertised "lightly used" carrier bags at a 50% discount on the market rate.

The entrepreneur in question said he had "loads lying around" and was trying to "undercut" the supermarkets by flogging them for 2.5p.

Suffice to say, several newspapers got carried away with the introduction of last week's charge.

Two, the Mail and Mirror described ensuing scenes as "CHAOS".

There was even a novel suggestion from the Mail on Sunday, who offered some helpful advice to traumatised customers: "To beat the 5p bad charge... just say NO and bring your own".

Of course, it didn't take long for someone to snap a picture of the headline and comment: "GETTING PEOPLE TO DO THIS IS LITERALLY THE WHOLE POINT OF THE CHARGE YOU LOBOTOMISED SHITLARKS."

Quite.
Tantrums over tags(04 of04)

Some customers literally couldn't help themselves succumbing to illicit and illegal activities, pinching bags from stores in a desperate bid to stock up.

This Tesco branch attached security tags to their prized carrying vessels.

Then again, at 10p - 200% of the going rate - they were probably just asking for it anyway.

Capitalist pigs.
