It was an unbridled disaster that caused a right mare for Tesco, but now the horse meat scandal is set to be immortalised in a musical homage.

The shocking revelations may have left fans of Findus Lasagna feeling a bit queasy, but a musical composition inspired by the scandal will be premiered at a concert in Glasgow this evening.

The Unspeakable by Eve Harrison was created following workshops with children from Raploch’s Big Noise orchestra, in a musical collaboration between Sistema Scotland and the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS).

Eve Harrison said: "I hope I have captured the pride, zeal and imagination of the Raploch young people. They were so buzzing with ideas.

"The piece evokes a visit to the Wallace Monument and the Carnival as well as horsemeat, which was big in the news when we had our first workshops," she revealed in a statement.
