Horrific Baby Abuse Video Goes Viral One Year On

A harrowing video of a woman slapping, beating and pinching a crying baby has gone viral – a year after she was charged and jailed for the act.

The footage of the young woman attacking the child and pounding it with a pillow was taken in Malaysia last year, but has been reposted online, causing outrage. Ninemsn revealed it had been "inundated" with messages from people wanting the woman found and charged.

As well as abusing the child, she is heard shouting “diamlah bodoh” which Asia One translates as “keep quiet, stupid” as the infant cries.

Hundreds of complaints were made to the Royal Malaysia Police, who were prompted to post a statement on their official Facebook page, reassuring concerned viewers that action had been taken.

The statement said: “Police have received nearly 300 complains and comments from the public concerned about the fate of the baby.”

It states the case was reported to the authorities on May 29 last year with an arrest being made. The woman in the video is the child’s mother, it confirmed.

It added the woman is currently serving a prison sentence of 18 months under Section 31 (1) of the Children Act 2001.

Huffington Post UK has chosen not to embed the distressing video but it can be viewed on YouTube here.
