Man Stabbed To Death In East London Named By Police

A man stabbed to death in the street in east London has been named by police.

Detectives said 26-year-old David Martinez, who is believed to be Spanish, was attacked at an address on North Birkbeck Road at about 5.10pm on Wednesday.

He is the 15th person to be killed as a result of knife crime in the capital in 2019.

“Officers, London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance attended a found a man suffering from knife injuries,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Scotland Yard’s homicide and major crime command is investigating and has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Police are hunting for his killer who they believe was known to the victim, but no arrests have been made.

Scotland Yard said the killing is not believed to be gang-related.

This comes after renewed scrutiny of violent crimes involving knives following recent deaths in both London and Manchester.
