OAP Dies After Being Hit By Lorry

A pensioner has died after she was hit by an articulated lorry, the driver of which only stopped after people started banging on his door.

The 75-year-old suffered fatal injuries after being struck by the yellow Scania in slow moving traffic, Dorset Police said.

A force spokesman said there was a lot of traffic on the road when the woman was hit outside the G&T's store in Wimborne Road, Winton, Bournemouth, at 12.30pm yesterday.

He said the 46-year-old driver, from Lancashire, was told the woman had gone under the front of his lorry and was trapped underneath the cab.

He was able to raise the suspension enabling emergency services to reach the woman, the spokesman said.

She was taken to hospital with leg injuries which did not appear to be too serious at the time and was conscious and talking, he said.

But the woman's condition deteriorated overnight and she died, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Pc Vine on 101, quoting reference 186 of July 12.
