A white lion cub plays with a tawny lioness, in October, 2014, in the Timbavati, South Africa. THESE are the first ever pictures of white lion cubs born to a white lioness in the wild. The three snow-white cubs owe their unusual snow-white fur to a rare genetic marker that results in a white pelt but pigmented eyes, skin and paws. Thirteen white lions thrive in the Greater Timbavati Region, South Africa, the highest population of the species ever recorded. The birth of the three cubs have been welcomed by conservation groups, including Linda Tucker, founder of the Global White Lion Protection Trust, who famously released seven of the population into the wild.
