One the the glitziest and most glamourous celebrity events The 2013 Met Ball gala kicked off and opted for a punk dress code, However the internet was sent into a floral storm over Kim Kardashian's choice of dress with comparisons made from sofa covers to Mrs Doubtfire

And not forgetting the powerful images from Bangladesh of a garment worker who was rescued , after being trapped for 17 days within the rubble of the collapsed factory and miraculously surviving...All in pictures of the week

This image obtained May 7, 2013 courtesy of WOIO TV shows Amanda Berry (C) reunited with her sister (L) on May 6, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio after Berry and two other women who had been missing for a decade were found alive in a house not far from where they were last seen. The dramatic discovery drew hundreds of cheering people to the usually quiet, residential street to celebrate that girls, long feared dead, were very much alive. Three men have been arrested in the case.
