At least 10 people have been injured after a plane crash-landed in New York.

The Southwest Airlines Flight 345's nose wheel collapsed, it was reported.

This sent it skidding along the tarmac at LaGuardia Airport, officials said.

The emergency exits were used

Flights were temporarily suspended as a result, but the airport reopened later on.

Airport general manager Tom Bosco said: "The aircraft skidded down the runway on its nose and then veered off and came to rest in the grass area."

He said there had been no warnings of possible problems with the aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation.
