Dewani Logged Into Gaydar The Day After His Wife's Body Was Found, Murder Trial Hears
|

A businessman standing trial accused of the murder of his new bride surfed a gay sex hook-up site the day after her body was found, a court has heard.

Bisexual Shrien Dewani accessed Gaydar for 60 minutes in the early hours of 15 November, then for 54 minutes later that same evening.

His 28-year-old wife Anni Dewani was shot dead in the back of a taxi on the couple’s honeymoon on 13 November 2010.

Her body was found a day later.

The court in Cape Town, South Africa, heard Dewani had been a member on Gaydar for six years under the profile name Asiansubguy.

His account was deactivated on 21 November 2010.

The 34-year-old was also registered on fetish website Recon in August 2004, using the same profile name as his Gaydar account.

The revelations came amid a list of admissions released to the court and follow Dewani’s confirmation he had relationships with male prostitutes.

Records also show Dewani signed into Gaydar twice on 12 November 2010 as he and his wife waited for a flight to Cape Town. They had married a fortnight ago in Mumbai.

Prosecutors say Dewani hatched a plot to kill his bride because he wanted out of the marriage after an 18-month romance that culminated in a lavish £200,000 wedding.

Dewani denies murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping, and defeating the ends of justice

The care home owner has always denied paying three men to shoot Anni.

Dewani, extradited to South Africa after a four-year battle, denies murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping, and defeating the ends of justice.

He claims he and his wife were kidnapped at gunpoint as they drove through Gugulethu in Cape Town in a taxi.

Dewani was released unharmed, but his wife's body was found in the abandoned car the next day. She had been shot.
