A happy couple ended up with an unexpected addition to their wedding photos after Theresa May inadvertently gatecrashed their ceremony.

Michelle and Jason Dight were reportedly tying the knot in a waterside ceremony on the Isle of Wight when the PM stepped off a motor crusier at Cowes harbour on Saturday in front of the couple.

May then agreed to pose with the newly-weds, despite telling them she was not really dressed for a wedding.

According to the prime minister’s office, May had been on a private visit to the Isle of Wight over the weekend with her husband, Philip.

The couple were heading back to London by Sunday morning, when they were photographed going to church in Sonning, Berkshire.
