Newsnight stalwart Jeremy Paxman pulled no punches when he announced just what the internet is really for during Wednesday's programme.

Paxman was introducing a segment on online pornography filters when he squared up to the camera and conspiratorially announced: “Now as we all know, one of the main functions of the internet is to facilitate masturbation, or worse.”
