“You just won Twitter for the week!”

Monica Lewinsky, the former White House intern who hit the headlines after she became embroiled in an affair with Bill Clinton, is attracting attention again after making a tongue-in-cheek tweet.

More than 20 years after the scandal which led to the president being impeached for lying about the affair, Lewinsky responded humorously to American psychologist Adam Grant who asked people on Twitter what the worst career advice they’d ever received was.

Showing a true ability to laugh at herself, Lewinsky replied: “an internship at the white house will be amazing on your resume” and added an emoji of a blushing face.

Her jokey response sent Twitter into a frenzy of people laughing and posting memes as well as many praising her for her capacity to bounce back.

Lewinsky, now 45, was the catalyst for Clinton’s impeachment which initially stemmed for a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Paula Jones but was broadened by Lewinsky’s “sexual misconduct” with the then president.

During and since the scandal, Lewinsky faced public vilification and media scrutiny and described herself as “the most humiliated woman in the world.”

But her witty comeback shows she is a survivor and many people on social media reacted with admiration for her flippant wisecrack.
