Teenager Dies In Hit-And-Run After Being Forced Into Car In Erdington, Birmingham

A 19-year-old has died in a suspicious hit-and-run, minutes after being apparently being forced into a car during a nearby disturbance.

The teenager was struck by a car following disorder involving a man being bundled into a car in the Erdington area of Birmingham on Friday night, West Midlands Police (WMP) said.

Police believe the dead man was the person bundled into the car.

Detectives have launched a major invetsigation to locate those responsible.

The teenager was hit in Hunton Road shortly before 8.55pm, minutes after the disturbance in the nearby area of The Gardens, and was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, the Press Association reports.

WMP said detectives are linking it with the earlier incident, in which a 22-year-old man also suffered minor injuries after being assaulted.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from the force’s CID department, said: “At this stage we are treating the man’s death as suspicious.

“I believe there were two vehicles involved in this incident a blue Mercedes and a silver VW Passat and I would ask that anyone who saw these cars in the area around The Gardens and Hunton Road to contact me as a matter of urgency.

“The circumstances are still being investigated and I am keeping an open mind into what happened.

“The family of the teenager have been informed of his death and are being supported by specialist officers at this time.”
