That's gotta hurt... Alex Bernhardt was bitten by a bull ant during filming

Wincing and in obvious pain, Bernhardt doubles over and eventually ducks completely out of shot, exclaiming: "I've just been stung by a fucking bull ant.

"Ohhh… Fuck. Oh my god. Ow. I'm about to cry it's really, really sore."

Bull ants can grow up to 40mm. They have long, slender mandibles and a venomous sting

The segment, shot several months ago, was never aired but has resurfaced via Instagram.

According to the Australian Museum, the insects are:

Large, alert ants that can grow up to 40mm. They have characteristic large eyes and long, slender mandibles and a potent venom-loaded sting. They have superior vision, able to track and even follow intruders from a distance of 1 metre. Many species of bull ants have bright red or orange colours on the head or abdomen.

Bernhardt has been injured in the field before. In June a woman was arrested after allegedly putting a cigarette out in her face, 9News recalls.

And last year she was drenched with water on camera after approaching a man thought to have been in possession of a hand grenade.
