Hillary Clinton missed a series of broadcast interviews on Monday after she caught her heel on steps, hurting her ankle.

The former US secretary of state and presidential hopeful was due to appear on BBC Radio 4′s ‘Woman’s Hour’ and ITV’s ‘This Morning’ for interviews promoting her newly-published memoir What Happened.

But instead, Clinton failed to appear for the radio broadcast and missed her slot on the daytime TV favourite.

‘This Morning’ presenter Phillip Schofield spoke of his disappointment on Snapchat, writing: “Supposed to be interviewing Hillary Clinton... but she’s fallen over and hurt her foot!! Gutted”.

Clinton emerged later in the day for a pre-recorded segment on BBC 1 chat show ‘The Graham Norton Show’, explaining her injury to the audience.

Her communications director Nick Merrill shared a snap of the former New York senator on the sofa beside Norton, showing the former first lady’s foot in a “moon boot” brace.

Merrill shared the picture taken from the audience’s perspective, writing on Twitter: ”[Hillary Clinton] on The Graham Norton Show, joking about how she caught her heel on some steps & twisted her ankle earlier today.

“Back to the book tour!”

As part of the tour, Clinton used a speech in Swansea on Saturday to urge clarity over the future of the children of EU nationals in the UK after Brexit.

And she later laughed off the suggestion a trade deal with the Donald Trump’s administration would boost the British economy after it leaves the EU.
