Get ready, nostalgia fans, because after months of speculation, S Club 7 have finally announced that they’re ‘bringing it all back’ for a reunion tour in 2015.
During Friday night’s Children In Need telethon, the pop favourites performed together as a seven-piece for the first time since Paul Cattermole left the band in 2002, and while their medley was met with mixed reviews (and that’s being polite), they’ve now confirmed they’ll be hitting the road for a new tour next May.
S Club 7 made the announcement during a press conference on Monday morning, hosted by Brian Dowling, where they broke the news that they’ll be performing an initial run of 11 dates around the UK.
Discussing the tour, Jo O'Meara revealed: "We just want to make this the best fun we've ever had, lots of fun, lots of sparkle and just a really good, fun time! The best one we've done yet."
The band also said that fans can look forward to hearing their hits, such as ‘Reach’, ‘Bring It All Back’ and ‘Never Had A Dream Come True’, but they won’t be performing any new tracks, with Bradley McIntosh claiming the tour will act as a "nostalgic orgasm" (no, we're not quite sure what that means either).
Although there are currently no plans for a 'Big Reunion'-style documentary about the group's comeback tour, Tina Barrett admitted there are "talks ongoing" about the potential for a behind-the-scenes series.
It was first suggested that the newly reformed group would be taking their ‘S Club Party’ on the road last month, with a source telling The Sun: “If the reaction [to the Children In Need performance] is good, a tour will be announced.”
Nice to see they went ahead and announced one anyway, eh?
Speaking about the fairly dubious spectacle that was their Children In Need reunion, Rachel said: "It was amazing, just to be back all together on stage was really special and we felt proud to be part of it."
All we can say is that we hope the setlist doesn’t leave out S Club’s greatest achievement… the glittering solo career of Rachel Stevens. Unless there’s a ‘Sweet Dreams My LA Ex’/’Some Girls’/‘Funky Dory’ mash-up somewhere in the show, we’ll be demanding our money back.
