Bez, the former Happy Mondays' maracas player, has announced that he is to run for parliament in 2015. The 49-year-old told the Manchester Evening News that he is hoping to take seat for Salford, which is currently held by Labour’s Hazel Blears. Should he win, Bez, real name Mark Berry, would be the first dancer from an Manchester alternative rock band from the 80s and 90s to enter the ancient chamber.
