'Celebrity Big Brother' 2016: Katie Waissel Has Another Pop At Cheryl Fernandez-Versini

'I just didn’t think it was right or necessary.'

Celebrity Big Brother’ star Katie Waissel has defended her controversial comments about former ‘X Factor’ mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini

The singer, who entered the ‘CBB’ house on Thursday (28 July), appeared on the ITV talent show in 2010,  she was looked after by the ex-Girls Aloud singer, and in the years that have followed, Katie has launched regular attacks on her.

Most recently, Katie branded her “prick” and “not a very nice human”, adding: “If you ask me, she is fake as shit.”

Despite insisting that she didn’t want to talk about her time on ‘X Factor’ in her entrance VT on the ‘CBB’ launch show, Katie addressed her comments about Cheryl in an interview that aired on spin-off show ‘Bit On The Side’, which was filmed just before she walked into the house.

“That wasn’t because I wanted to get my name out there,” she explained to Carol McGiffin

“It came to my attention that she had written about me in her book and she must have had a few spare pages and didn’t know what else to write about.

“The way in which she portrayed me and shames people, I just didn’t think it was right or necessary,” she said.

Cheryl had written in her 2012 memoirs that she’d only chosen Katie as a contestant on ‘The X Factor’ to make good TV.

Simon Cowell had spent the past two years drumming into me that we needed acts who would be ‘good TV’,” she wrote.

“When I saw Katie perform this time, I had to admit that she was certainly that. She was quirky, intriguing and busting to succeed.

“In short, she had the character and drive it took to withstand the pressure of the show, and so I put her through, even though she messed up when she sang in front of will.i.am.”

‘Celebrity Big Brother’ airs nightly on Channel 5.
