‘Coronation Street’: New Boss Eyes Up 'Poldark' Star Aiden Turner In A Bid To 'Sex Up' ITV Soap

Could Aiden Turner be swapping the Cornish coast for Weatherfield’s cobbles? That’s one of the hopes of the new boss of ‘Coronation Street’.

Kate Oates has revealed she wants more eye candy on the Street and admitted the 'Poldark' star would be her number one choice.

"There is a lot of talent out there and some of it is very handsome,” she told The Sun. “Someone like Aidan would be brilliant."

Kate also revealed that she wants to focus on improving the soap’s storylines after it came under fire from viewers for many of its latest plots.

Kate told The Mirror: "Everyone says will I shake it up? For me it's about telling the best stories and using the characters the best I can."

And that could mean bringing back some familiar faces from Corrie’s past - but she’s remaining tight-lipped on who.

Speaking to the Daily Star, she explained: “I’ve been tossing around a few ideas in my head about who will be back.

“There’s nothing I can really talk about yet. I’d need to talk to the writers first.

“I think ‘Corrie’ has a strong cast and also a strong history. And it’s nice to mix and match.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the writers are interested in doing and matching their ideas with mine.

“Often you find yourselves thinking from the same place. You think along similar lines. And I’m sure that’s true when it comes to bringing back popular characters.”

Kate joins ‘Corrie’ from ‘Emmerdale’ after previous boss Stuart Blackburn was axed in September.
