'Marcella' actor Nicholas Pinnock has fuelled rumours ITV's crime-noir detective drama will return for a second series.

Fans of the show are currently on tenterhooks, waiting to find out who the serial killer is, with the murderer's identity being revealed during Tuesday (17 May) night's finale.

However, it seems that they shouldn't expect everything to be neatly wrapped up, as some plot details could be left open to pave the way for another run.

Nicholas, who plays Jason, the estranged husband of Anna Friel's character DS Marcella Backland, appeared on 'This Morning' to discuss the series finale, where he faced a grilling from hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

As Phillip asked twice for reassurance that all the questions he has will be answered, Nicholas insisted: "You will not be dissatisfied."

Pressing if some questions would remain a mystery, in order to set up series two, Nicholas replied with a smirk: "That's highly possible."
