To say that 2014 has been a big year for Cheryl Cole would be something of an understatement. Since the beginning of the year she’s bagged her fourth number one single with ‘Crazy Stupid Love’, a brand new surname (with a ‘V’, a ‘Z’ and a hyphen in it - fancy, eh?) and this week, she'll make her long-awaited return to ‘The X Factor’.

In the three years since she’s been gone, we’ve seen Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland and Sharon Osbourne all enjoying a seat at the ‘X Factor’ judges’ table, and while they’ve all tried their best, none of them have really hit the spot in the way that Chezza has. Hence why we’re excited to see how she gets on second time round, along with Simon Cowell who is also returning to the panel this series.

With just a few short days to go until ‘The X Factor’ hits our screens on Saturday, 30 August, we’re on the edge of our seats to see Cheryl’s triumphant return to the judging panel (and, more importantly, the nation’s hearts).

And just in case you were thinking that us marking her return to UK television with a chorus of trumpets and the rolling out of a (virtual) red carpet is a tad over-dramatic, we invite you to take a quick stroll down memory lane to remind yourselves of what makes Cheryl such a brilliant 'X Factor' judge.

Or, as she would no doubt put it herself: "Eeeeeh howay, here's me top moments, pet. COS AM WERTH IT"…

Her appearance on the American 'X Factor' judging panel might have been short-lived, but thankfully Cheryl managed to make a lasting impression, thanks in no small part to her outfit choice when filming the auditions. Judges L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul might have already forgotten Cheryl, but those purple trousers will live on in their memories - and ours - for years to come… (credit:Getty Images)
