Strictly Come Dancing's Chris Ramsey Won't Let The 'Curse' Affect His Marriage (Or, More Pressingly, His Podcast)

The Geordie comedian and his wife host a hit podcast called Shagged. Married. Annoyed.

Comedian Chris Ramsey has insisted that he won’t be succumbing to the so-called Strictly Come Dancing “curse” during his time on the show, as he wouldn’t want anything to affect the successful podcast he and his wife run.

Nothing like priorities, eh?

Chris is one of 15 stars currently in rehearsals ahead of this year’s Strictly live shows, which begin later in the month.

In the lead-up to this weekend’s pre-recorded launch, which sees the celebrities find out who their professional partners are, Chris maintained he won’t be following in the footsteps of the many other celebrities who’ve succumbed to the apparent “curse”, as he has a podcast to think about.

“The question I got asked most was, ‘Are you worried about the curse?’” he told The Mirror. “And I said, ’I don’t know if you are aware but I’ve been married five years, I’ve got a child.

“But more importantly, me and my wife have got one of the top podcasts in the UK – do you think I’m gonna put that on the line?’.”

Chris and his wife Rosie previously joked about the Strictly “curse” on their podcast Shagged. Married. Annoyed. last month.

Shortly after Chris was announced for the show, Rosie joked that she “wasn’t looking forward to you cheating on me”, adding: “I’m prepared for it…and we never got a prenup, so it’s fine. I’ll get the house, I’ll still get everything so it’s fine, it’s all good.”

Last year’s series of Strictly famously saw comedian Seann Walsh caught on camera kissing his professional partner Katya Jones after a night out, despite the fact they were both in relationships at the time.

Of last year’s four finalists, three of the celebrities are now dating professionals they met on the show, with Stacey Dooley and Joe Sugg in relationships with their dance partners, Kevin Clifton and Dianne Buswell.

Meanwhile, Ashley Roberts and Giovanni Pernice are now also an item, though they were actually partnered with other people while on Strictly.
