Adele has added another award to her fast-growing collection as she receives an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The 25-year-old, who found worldwide fame after a friend posted her demo on MySpace in 2006, has been recognised for her services to music.

It is the latest in a long line of awards for the singer, having won a Brit, a Grammy, a Golden Globe and an Oscar for her James Bond theme 'Skyfall', in the last six months alone.

Adele's last album '21' - released in 2011 - has been certified 16 times platinum in the UK, and has sold 26 million copies worldwide.

The singer is rumoured to have started work on her third studio album, after taking time out when she became a mother for the first time last October.

Other famous names who have been honoured by the Queen in her Birthday Honours list include funnyman Rob Brydon, who is awarded a CBE, and 'Mr Bean' star Rowan Atkinson, who receives an MBE.
