Game Of Thrones' Lena Headey Reveals Deleted Scene That Would Have Explained Major Cersei Plothole

A scene involving Cersei's pregnancy was cut from season seven of the hit HBO show.

Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey has expressed her disappointment that one scene was cut from the show’s penultimate season that would have filled a major plothole involving her character.

Lena played Cersei Lannister in all eight series of the hit show, and back in season seven, it was revealed she was pregnant.

However, as time went on, this pregnancy plot was mentioned less and less, leading viewers to speculate whether Cersei actually was with child, or that she’d simply made this claim up so her brothers would give her protection.

Speaking at ComicCon in Germany, Lena has now set the record straight, revealing that all would have been explained in a scene that never made the final cut.

We shot a scene that never made it into season seven, which was where I lose the baby,” she told fans. “It was a really traumatic, great moment for Cersei, and it never made it in, and I kind of loved doing that because I thought it would have served her differently.”

Over the weekend, Lena joined in the conversation surrounding the disappointment some fans felt towards the final season of Game Of Thrones, admitting she was “gutted” about the way producers chose to kill off her character.

“I will say I wanted a better death,” Lena said. “Obviously, you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted.”

The last season of Game Of Thrones – and in particular the final episode – proved to be a disappointment to many fans, some of whom even set up a petition for the writers to re-do the whole thing.

After this was criticised by some of the cast, including Sophie Turner, viewers then set up two separate fundraisers aimed at charities supported by some of the stars, as a way of showing fans’ frustrations didn’t lie with the cast members.
