It's not for the faint-hearted.

Paul Mescal has revealed he and Daisy Edgar-Jones have finally been able to watch Normal People together – and even came up with their own drinking game to mark the occasion.

The pair played Connell and Marianne in the hit BBC Three show, which debuted earlier this year.

However, because of lockdown and their own busy schedules, the two actors have not had the chance to sit down and watch the show together yet, but finally found the opportunity recently.

And let’s just say, they made up for lost time.

“We actually ended up playing a little drinking game: every time Connell wouldn’t complete a sentence or any time Marianne would make an emphatic statement that made Connell uncomfortable we did a shot,” Paul told GQ.

We just want to clarify that this is not a drinking game that HuffPost UK endorses, particularly to anyone who wants to still be conscious by episode three of Normal People.

Paul – who has been named Breakthrough Actor Of The Year at the GQ Men Of The Year Awards – added: “We ended up talking over most of it, just reflecting on particular days, costume changes, memories.

“It was very special to get to do that with her. The thing we shared – will always share – is so unique.”

The success of Normal People – based on Sally Rooney’s hit novel – led to the show being nominated for four Emmys, including a Best Actor nod for Paul.

Daisy Edgar-Jones’ absence from the list of nominees did lead to some controversy, though, with the woman herself admitting the “snub” initially came as something of a disappointment.
