Excitement for tonight's Brit Awards is reaching fever pitch, and down at The O2 last minute rehearsals are underway to ensure the show is the spectacle we've all been promised.

And despite host James Corden being struck down with tonsillitis, he was seen going through his lines on stage as construction finished around him.

It was touch and go whether the comic would be able to make the show, with Chris Evans on standby, but James has managed to power through his illness.

Muse, Ben Howard and Emeli Sande were also putting the finishing touches to their performances ahead of tonight's bash, which kicks off on ITV at 8pm.

1998: John Prescott gets a soakingProving perhaps, that politics and pop really don't mix, when the then Labour Cabinet Minister attended the 1998 bash, indie band Chumbawamba thought they'd let him know exactly how they felt about him getting an invite by throwing a bucket of iced water over the MP. Brrrr. Despite apologies from the band's record label, they were unrepentant, saying: "If John Prescott has the nerve to turn up at events like the Brit Awards in a vain attempt to make Labour seem cool and trendy, then he deserves all we can throw at him." 2004: The booze is backAfter alcohol was banned for a few years previously, Brits host Cat Deeley welcomed it back by arriving on the stage on top of a champagne bottle in a sexy ringleader outfit. What they were thinking banning it in the first place is beyond us - the Brits without booze is like Daphne without Celeste. (credit:PA)
