Miley Cyrus Debuts 'Break Up Track' Slide Away At The VMAs

She split from husband Liam Hemsworth earlier this month.

Miley Cyrus hit fans right in the feels as she debuted her apparent break-up track Slide Away at the MTV Video Music Awards, following her split with Liam Hemsworth.

The pair revealed they were no longer together earlier this month – less than a year after they tied the knot, following a decade of dating on and off.

Making a surprise appearance at Monday night’s ceremony, Miley performed Slide Away on TV for the first time, after the track’s lyrics previously made headlines

On the song, she alludes to her break up from Liam, as she sings: “Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost, so it’s time to let it go.”

Her performance aired in black-and-white, and really touched those watching.

Miley’s parents, Billy Ray and Tish, were in the audience and applauded their daughter as she left the stage.

Miley and Liam, who met 10 years ago on the set of the film The Last Song, stunned fans when they announced their split earlier this month.

In a statement to People magazine, they said at the time: “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.

“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Liam has since filed for divorce at a court in Los Angeles, while Miley has also spoken out to deny rumours she cheated during their relationship after photos emerged of the singer kissing reality star Kaitlynn Carter during a holiday to Italy.

Miley and Kaitlynn were seen arriving at a VMAs after party hand-in-hand on Monday night, following Miley’s performance.

However, the pair are yet to either confirm or deny if they are together.
