The Muppets secured their place in film history yeterday, with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in Los Angeles.

Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and Gonzo the Great were all in attendance to receive the 2,466th star on the famous street.

Kermit, whose first TV appearance was in 1955, said: "I want to say on behalf of the Muppets that we are just really happy to be here on Hollywood Boulevard joining some of the greatest names in showbiz."

He was joined by Lisa and Brian Henson, the daughter and son of Muppets creator Jim Henson.

"As the Muppets once sang, 'Look at us. Here we are. Right where we belong.' and yes they do belong thanks to the lovers and dreamers and you the fans," said Lisa Henson.

It was recently announced Disney movie executives are bringing The Muppets back for a sequel after scoring gold at the Oscars this year.
