X Factor: it's TV, Get Over It
|

I must not be the only one who screamed at the TV and took Twitter and ranted "HOW CAN GOLDIE GET THROUGH!!!!"

Goldie Cheung, who is (let's face it) clearly two crunches short of a prawn cracker, got through to JUDGES' HOUSES. Whilst the absolute talent that is Lascel Wood got left out in the cold and received a "no". I thought to myself, this has got to be a joke. I have watched X Factor avidly throughout the years and have seen good people come and go then not be remembered. But THIS has got to take the cake.

BUT...

Let's take two steps backwards before we tweet and retweet our way into Twitter jail. X factor has increasingly become less about the music and more about the television. Every person has to have some sort of "sob story" despite probably having a mansion in Hampshire with four acres of land, 3 horses and some chickens in the back that lay eggs from time-to-time. Nevertheless, we the audience love it, indulge in it, in fact we encourage it. The ratings speak for themselves. This fact alone is the reason why X Factor has become what it is. Can you imagine Steve Brookstein auditioning now? Didn't think so.

But lo and behold, reports today say Goldie has walked out of the X Factor. I take my hat off to her. Who wants be the brunt of the nation's jokes? She, unlike many of her joker-of-the-pack predecessors, saw through the X Factor producers and walked. Can the judges really see her selling millions of records worldwide? Or is she just another turn in the PR wheel of the X Factor? Methinks the latter.
