PRESS ASSOCIATON -- Andrew Hall, who plays Coronation Street's controversial cross-dresser Marc Selby, is leaving the soap.

The actor, 56, better known to soap fans as the well-spoken wine merchant with an alter-ego called Marcia, ends his time on the ITV1 show after six months on the cobbles.

A Corrie spokeswoman said the former Butterflies star had always intended to stay for six months.

She said: "He's leaving because his story has run its course. It always had a beginning, middle and end."

Marc has been having a romance with Audrey Roberts (played by Sue Nicholls), who hasn't let her man's desire to dress as a woman interfere with their relationship.

Corrie's Kylie and Eva are reportedly set to discover the truth about Marc, after recording footage of Marcia on a phone.
