'I Treated Cancer Operation Like Going On Stage'

Kylie Minogue has revealed how she faced undergoing surgery for breast cancer - by treating it like going on stage.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the singer - who was diagnosed with the disease in 2005 - said: "I was lying there on the trolley and I was suddenly taken by the fact that I was going into a ‘theatre’.

"Medicine is so different from my business, but, in some ways, so similar."

She explained: "The whole gowning up, the masks, the build-up, the adrenalin, it all felt so familiar. I was under lights. ‘Ah! There’s my spotlight’."

Kylie eventually beat the disease and made her stage comeback the following year.

However, in an interview with Paris Match last year, she revealed she still feels an "incredible anger" towards her disease.

"A day does not go by without me thinking about it. Just looking in a mirror is enough – the scars are moral and physical," she said.

"There are days when I feel an incredible anger, others when I say that I was very lucky in my misfortune."

Kylie recently joined 'The Voice UK' as a coach and will make her debut when the new series kicks off on Saturday on BBC One.
