Nick Grimshaw Taken To Hospital After Swallowing Glass During Radio 1 Breakfast Show

Nick Grimshaw's A&E Visit

Nick Grimshaw was forced abandon his Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning when a freak accident saw him swallow a chunk of glass.

Keen to reassure fans that all is well, the 29-year-old has already shared his version of events and even managed to crack a joke about the unfortunate incident.

"Went to hospy, had X-rays, coughed it up, all fine now. I can eat glass in a circus now if all else fails," he wrote on Twitter.

Nick recently attended the Brit Awards.

Grimmy accidentally ingested the glass while drinking from a mug at the Radio 1 studios and made his trip to A&E with a member of the Radio 1 team.

Nick's pal and fellow DJ Fearne Cotton stepped in to make sure the last 45 minutes of the morning slot ran smoothly, before starting her own daily show at 10am.

The presenter was enjoying his first day back at work when disaster struck, after taking time off to complete a Sport Relief cycling challenge in Kenya.

This isn't the first time things haven't gone to plan for poor Nick, who was sent a string of offensive tweets from One Direction fans when his producer suggested band member Louis Tomlinson was "annoying" live on air.
