James May Lands A New Job At The BBC

James May has become the first of the former ‘Top Gear’ hoststo land a brand new role, as the BBC have announced that he’ll be fronting a new motoring show.

The host will present two 90-minute episodes of ‘Building Cars Live’, alongside ‘Springwatch’ presenter Kate Humble, and BBC2 newcomer Ant Anstead.

The show will be similar to the Beeb’s previous production ‘Airport Live’, giving car-lovers a peek behind-the-scenes at BMW’s MINI plant in Oxford.

Bosses have not confirmed a specific air date yet, instead stating that the specials will arrive on our screens this Autumn.

A car is built every 67 seconds at the plant, and James has shared his excitement with the admittedly not very titillating statement: “I can’t wait to build a car. Live.”

We’re sure he’s jumping for the joy on the inside.

Life after 'Top Gear' has officially begun

BBC2 controller Kim Shillinglaw is more animated, stating: “‘Building Cars Live’ will take BBC Two viewers right under the bonnet of the car manufacturing industry.

“Broadcasting live from the car factory is a really exciting way to reveal the science, engineering and expertise behind the cars on our roads and I’m delighted it will be presented by the hugely talented team of James May, Kate Humble and Ant Anstead.”

Of course, it’s impossible to discuss the show without mentioning ‘Top Gear’. Could this be newcomer Ant’s unofficial audition?

But who else could be in line for the role? Check out the possible options below…
