'Dancing On Ice': Samia Ghadie, 'Coronation Street' Star, Axed From The Ice

Samia Skates Off Of 'Dancing On Ice'

Samia Ghadie, hairdresser Maria in 'Coronation Street', has been given the chop on 'Dancing on Ice'.

The 30-year-old's routine for the show's Props Night saw her and partner Sylvain Longchambon dance to Roxette's 'The Look'. Their prop for the night, a hair salon chair, was a nod to her role in the long-running soap.

After only racking up 28 points, the lowest judges' score of the night, the soap star also failed to win over the voting public and ended up in the bottom two with Olympic gold medal-winning boxer Luke Campbell.

She bravely performed the skate-off dance despite suffering a groin strain during her main performance, but it was not enough to put her through to next week's semi-finals.

In an apparent nod to Samia's rumoured romance with her dance partner, show host Phillip Schofield said, to laughter from the audience: "You've picked up lots of this since you've been here - lots of tips, lots of skills. Will you stay friends?" Samia smiled at Sylvain and said: "I think we'll keep in touch, won't we?".

Former Olympic gold medallist Robin Cousins told Samia: "You're a feisty young lady. But Luke, it was a knock-out in the final round."

The highest score of the night, and of the series so far, went to EastEnder Matt Lapsinskas. He scored 36 points for a routine featuring three different hats as props and three different styles of music.

Welsh rugby great Gareth Thomas also goes through to the semi-finals after his dance to The Script's 'Hall of Fame', using a rugby ball as a prop, won 34.5 points and was described as "beautiful and elegant" by Cousins.

Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle, who used a hula hoop for her Lady Gaga-inspired performance, completes the quartet who survived to skate another week.
