Last weekend, Peter and his professional partner Janette Manrara made their debut on the ‘Strictly’ dance-floor, cha cha cha-ing their way to the top of the leaderboard, and enjoyed praise heaped on them by the judging panel.

However, it sounds like Alesha thinks the ‘Mysterious Girl’ singer needs to put a bit more work in if he fancies being crowned this year’s winner.

She told Alan Carr on 'Chatty Man': “I saw Peter Andre the other night and he said he was doing six hours of training a day but I told him ‘If you want to win you are going to have to up your game’.

“I also bumped into Jamelia and she said ‘I am so tired’ but I was like ‘It is only week one’. We did about 10 hours a day, it’s full-on. If you want to win it, then that is what you have got to do.”

After being voted ‘Strictly’ winner in 2007, Alesha replaced Arlene Phillips on the judging panel.

She was later approached by Simon Cowell to join the team on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, where she has been since 2012.

Peter is currently the bookies’ favourite to emerge victorious later this year, with his fellow contestants also naming him “one to watch”.

“Even if you’re good at one style of dancing, you can’t have your thumbs up, you’ve got to have your chest out, you’ve got to have your shoulders back. It’s different for everyone.”

‘Strictly’ continues this weekend on BBC One, when the first couple will be sent packing from the competition.
