The Wanted Split: Boyband Announce They Are Taking 'Time To Pursue Personal Endeavours'

The Wanted have announced they are breaking up after five years together.

In an official statement on their website, it was announced Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes have "decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours".

The One Direction rivals, who are managed by Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun and have seen success both in the UK and Stateside, will go their separate ways after their upcoming 'Word Of Mouth' tour and the release of their latest single 'Glow In The Dark'.

The statement reads:

This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour's conclusion. The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as The Wanted and look forward to many successful projects together in the future. They thank their fans for their continued love and support and look forward to seeing them on tour.

It may sound like a temporary break, but how many times have we heard this rhetoric before from feuding boybands?

The boys had their first UK number one in 2010 with 'All Time Low' and went on to release three albums, 'The Wanted', 'Battleground' and most recently 'Word of Mouth'. They also starred in their own Kardashian-style reality series on E!, called 'The Wanted Life', which followed them around LA.

Last year The Wanted spoke out about how they were treated during their first year as a band, with Tom Parker claiming "we felt like puppets".

Speaking to The Huffington Post UK aboard The London Eye, the singer said: "For the first year we felt like puppets, it was all very new and we just did everything."
