Alison Hammond Met Mariah Carey And Honestly, We Don't Know Who Was More Iconic

The presenter flew out to LA to meet the self-proclaimed queen of Christmas for an interview on This Morning.

Whether it was nearly getting arrested next to the Leaning Tower Of Pisa, or presiding over a woman marrying her dog live on This Morning, 2019 has been quite a year for Alison Hammond

However, she topped off what has been a very eventful 12 months with her most ridiculous interview yet as she sat down for a chat with self-proclaimed queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey

With MiMi’s festive classic All I Want for Christmas Is You turning 25 this year, Alison flew out to LA to meet her, and what followed was nothing short of iconic.

Alison opened up the interview by exclaiming: “I’m so excited to be here, I’m literally fangirling you!”, revealing she was wearing an All I Want for Christmas Is Mariah T-shirt.

Mariah (jokingly, we think) responded: “This is so sweet. I love it, but can I say I do have my own merch that is not the bootleg one!”

As the pair chatted about how Mariah celebrates Christmas (nothing is too over the top, you’ll be unsurprised to hear), Alison then had her making her own Christmas cards with some arts and crafts supplies she’d brought along with her.

Alison then asked: “I was wondering if I could run my [Christmas] tune past you?”, to which Mariah joked: “I would have you keep that to yourself!”

But the persistent presenter didn’t let that put her off. “Do you know what, I’m going to go for it anyway because it’s not finished,” she said.

After Alison had finished singing Mariah said, “are you mocking me Alison, after I made this card for you and everything?”, before conceding it was “fabulous”.

As a parting gift, Alison then gave Mariah a personalised Christmas T-shirt, which had All I Want For Christmas Is Alison written on it.

“I’m going to keep it with me forever,” Mariah said, entirely unconvincingly.

During the interview Alison believed she had received an invite to Mariah’s Christmas celebrations in Aspen to enjoy a “two-horse open sleigh ride”, but the presenter later revealed to This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that Mariah had actually given her home address in LA as the North Pole.

“I was so nervous,” Alison said of the interview. “I just thought she was really nice, a really lovely lady.”

Not lovely enough to give you a genuine invitation though, eh Alison?

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
