Glastonbury 2016: Jeff Lynne's ELO Bring The Nostalgia With 'Legends' Set On Pyramid Stage

But 'Mr Blue Sky' did not manage to keep the rain away.

Jeff Lynne's ELO brought a serious dose of nostalgia to the fields of Worthy Farm on Sunday (26 June), as they played their 'legends' set at this year's Glastonbury

The group followed in the footsteps of Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Shirley Bassey by playing the early evening slot on the final day of the festival, which has become famous for featuring acts from yesteryear.

Ironically, the heavens opened as Jeff and his band entertained the crowd with hits such as 'Mr Blue Sky'.

Backed by a full string section, they rattled through the likes of 'Evil Woman', 'Showdown', 'Roll Over Beethoven', 'Living Thing' and 'Shine A Little Love', as revellers refused to have their spirits dampened by the weather.

Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra also proved to be the perfect warm up act for headliners Coldplay, who closed the festival with a euphoric set on the Pyramid Stage.

As well as playing some of classic hits mixed in with more recent ones, Chris Martin and co. included a live tribute to the band Viola Beach, whose members were all killed in a car accident in Sweden in March, covering their track, ‘Boys That Sing’.

Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb also joined the rockers on stage, performing ‘To Love Somebody’ and the disco staple, ‘Stayin’ Alive’, with them.

This year’s festival also saw Muse and Adele both headline the Pyramid Stage, with the latter’s highly-anticipated performance proving to be the jewel in this year’s crown.
