Freddie Starr dramatically stormed out of his first TV interview since sex abuse allegations against him were dropped, leaving ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Susanna Reid while the cameras were still rolling.

The star was being interviewed by Susanna in his own home and he wasn’t too happy when the presenter posed a question addressing the allegations.

“You’ve been in showbiz 50 years - do you think over that time you have done anything that could have been misinterpreted, in terms of your relationships?” Susanna asked, to which Freddie replied: “Are you being serious?” before removing his microphone and leaving the room.

The 71-year-old later returned to the interview, apologising and stating: ““It’s hard to have an interview like this with it being so raw - I’ve only been released three days ago, I’m just catching up on my sleep”.

Freddie added that he thinks the Crown Prosecution Service wanted to “put something there” even though he knew he was “innocent all along”.

He also called for changes to the justice system, saying: “It needs changing drastically. Just because you are arrested doesn’t mean that you are guilty - you shouldn’t be named until you are charged".

The CPS has told ‘Good Morning Britain’ that “despite feeling there was sufficient evidence to prosecute they are not saying he is guilty”.

The comedian also spoke out about Max Clifford, who was recently sentenced to eight years in prison for eight indecent assault charges.

“Max Clifford was a different animal - I didn’t like Max Clifford - I didn’t go out with him, I didn’t do anything with him," he said.

Freddie was joined by wife Sophie during the interview and she spoke of how they have struggled to cope during the investigation.

"It’s changed him as a man. It’s like even the little things like with his daughter, at one point he was scared to even cuddle her because you’ve got the world judging you,” she said. “ I know Freddie will come back from this.”

“I would say he is one of the most caring, gentle men that you can ever meet,” she said of her husband. “He’d do anything for anybody. And the fact is that for him to be accused of this, thank god it is now over, people can start to see the true Freddie and not the person that was portrayed in the media because it’s not him at all.”

Freddie had been on police bail since 2012. He was arrested as part of Operation Yewtree.
